This wouldn't solve the problem. The virus mutates and the animals are kept in very crowded conditions. Even with domesticated animals, you can have the same thing happen. People who have focused on the fact that they eat bats, have to some extent missed the point. Yes the bats are particularly loaded down with the virus, but it's the lack of standards in the markets that is the real problem. I saw the same thing in Thailand where you have rats scurrying along the ground sometimes running between your feet while on the tables above all manner of meat and fish are for sale. It's a time bomb.

Thanks for the link. That's unreviewed research so far, and definitely a minority scientific opinion at this point, but if they're right about that the truth will come out in the fullness of time.

The scientists who are convinced the virus is not a bioweapon base their opinion on the study of the virus itself, so it really doesn't matter what China's story is from that perspective.

There are many good reasons why the virus may not have originated in the wet market, but in and of itself that doesn't make it human engineered or a bioweapon.
