Things are getting ridiculous, pretty soon police officers will be too afraid to uphold the law.

For the folks asking for the officer's head, it's not too hard to avoid these situations in the first place.

1. Don't break the law
2. Don't resist arrest
3. And for heaven's sake, don't threaten a police officer with a weapon

Is that so hard?

The video and the known facts defy an easy conclusion. We have to remember that though it was a taser which the deceased raised, if you're a cop you might have no way of being certain what he is raising and pointing. This happened quickly and cop had to make a split second decision, weighing his life, other cops and inncoent lives in that second. It's not easy. People forget that every encounter with a policeman, no matter how trivial, has the potential to become a deadly struggle if you defy the police. There are 10 million arrests in the U.S. per year. From those arrests, about 1000 result in a killing and of those about 25% are black. Those are the facts, and they don't support a view of rampant racism.

What was truly crazy about this incident is that the Police Chief immediately resigned. That sends a terrible message to other police, police forces and the general public.

Agreed. Plus, if the guy tasered the cop, he could have easily taken his gun. Cops need to make split second decisions, it's not always about racism. If you value your life, don't resist arrest and certainly don't point a weapon at them...just common sense.

Agree with most of you - hard to make a judgement here, not enough information. Should the cops have engaged more gently in the first place or tried to de-escalate when things got tense? Was it appropriate to engage in the first place? Was the suspect a clear and present danger? Again, need more info. The timing is terrible, the US is a powder keg. I think a number of police chiefs can see the writing on the wall and are pondering quitting, especially black chiefs who may see themselves in a no-win situation. I wish there were more hi-tech ways of handling dangerous situations - maybe police weapons that only work when used by a cop (like cars that start when the "key" is in proximity of a sensor).

Everyone on the planet should know that if you point anything at a cop., your chance of being home for bed that night is very slim.
You don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
you don't ever point anything at a cop
and never mess with bad, bad Leroy Brown.

Common sense for most of us and probably true in this case, but is pointing a weapon and/or resisting arrest justification for being killed? Perhaps it is in the heat of the moment. Like I said, I wish there were better solutions. And could the situation have been handled better from the beginning? Again, need more info.

Cop was fired and Chief quit, asap, as imho they wanted to defuse the situation as much as possible, and avoid a riot and looting.

Obviously the unfortunate incident is subject to inetpretation and full investigation, but that will happen soon, and we'll see later what will ultimately happen to the cop.

If Officers fear Tasers so much as to warrant shooting a suspect who grabs for the Taser, then they shouldnt use those Tasers on anyone in the first place.

The police love to kill suspects and then complain when they are recorded doing so.

Every interaction involving a police officer and a citizen should be recorded and reviewed. If we tape the Officers, that will result in alot less abuse.

Remember Rodney King? Yeah, the officers claimed they feared for their lives while they were beating Rodney near death. The police lie all the time. Its only when we tape them that we catch them doing wrong.

Watch them beat Rodney as he barely moves. And then realize that the officers claimed Rodney wouldnt stop moving. This sort of beating happens ALL THE TIME because most officers are terrible human beings.

Just remember a court found the officers NOT GUILTY. You cant make this shit up.

Pointing a weapon at a cop is certainly justification for being shot at...but why even put yourself in that situation in the first place?

He was searched for concealed weapons and had none. I'm sure they checked his criminal background and he wasn't a violent offender.
Running and shooting a taser shouldn't justify someone being killed.
If he's not a violent offender and a danger to the community you shouldn't be using deadly force period.
Especially killing another unarmed black with everything that is goint on at this time, shows you what fucking retard thia cop is.

Cops are trained to shoot at the center of mass. The reason for this is that in the heat of the moment most people are not accurate.
