Tipping at the MPs

Just a general question, is it proper to tip the girls at the Massage parlours??

Sure, they love it. As for what a good tip is, who knows. Others can chime in and tell you what they tip. I might tip between $4-$10.

If the session was good and I think I may want to repeat with her some time in the future I tip (normally a 5K bill). If the sessions was only average I tend not to tip.

Tipping for good service is always a fine idea. The girls get a suprisingly small part of the session fee (i.e., $14 at ZB if memory serves). A $10 tip brightens the girl's day, and IMHO sets you up for a great performance on your next visit.

No one will listen to this, but...

No one will listen to this, let alone agree, but I want to point out the following:

1. Tipping is fairly foreign to tica culture. Overtipping will lead to lower service quality and higher expectations on the part of the providers.

2. Why tip at the end of a session? You probably won't see the same chica twice during a given vacation. If you must tip, do it at the beginning of a session. This will help promote better service.

3. I tip reasonably, on a percentage basis. $4.00 - $6.00 is reasonable at ZB, less at Oasis.

4. Yes, the girls take a small percentage of the price. It is not my job to feel sorry for them and base my tip on my Americanized perception of fair wages. I tip based on expected service, or in the case of restaurants/bars/room maids on service already received. If an MP girl at Zona for instance does five sessions per work week, she's earning income comparable to a retail clerk's entire week's pay; if she does eight sessions per week she's wealthy compared to her sisters who work full time in other fields.

5. Gifts (drinks at the bar, sex toys, sample bottles of lotions/perfumes etc.) should be valued at retail when calculating her tip, IMHO. I'm not a cheap bastard, but if I've just spent 4500 colones to buy her a "Coctel Zona Blue," I feel much less inclined to also offer a cash propina.

6. Everyone rolls his own way. My comments aren't intended to be argumentative or critical; my comments are as to how El Ciego rolls and may or may not be good advice for you. As I said, I tip four to six bucks at ZB, seldom more. YMMV. Daniel-San here on CRT claimed awhile ago to give $100.00 propinas, and it works for him. :shock: Other guys give the girl not only the tip but the whole d*ck...and offer no additional money whatsoever.

That is why i was asking, i did not want to set expectations for the girls and ruin it for the rest of the guys.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, how you look at it i guess), i went to ZB, had great service, but i spent too much money drinking and had no money to tip... so i felt bad....

El Ciego, you are completely correct.

On my first couple of trips, i would take girls out, get over charged for the taxi, and leave a tip on top of that. Walk out of the cab thinking, "i did the right thing, they need the $2 more than i do" :roll: .

My last trip, me and my semi-novia/bartender went to an "off site" motel. Taxi charges me, dumb gringo, $10. Next morning, we leave, drop her off at her casa, and she say's "tim, do NOT pay him anymore than 2k colones". I look at her a lil funny, let her know i don't want any problems with locals. She looks at me and FIRMLY says, "tim, do NOT pay him anymore than 2k colones". Taxi pulls up to the HDR, i give him 2k and say "muchos gracias" and get out. He said "mucho gusto" :? .

We are targets out there, i know everyone knows this, i just like to beat a dead horse.

I tip 2000 to 3000 col most of the time for good service and tip about the same reguardless of high or low end. The low end girls get so little for the session I feel they deserve a bigger tip on a percentage basis. If you give them 3000 you can bet they remember you when you come back and service gets better and better. I have on occasion tipped 5000 for superior service but not often.rbc100

I tell the chica I want kissing and BBBJ and for that I tip $10, which I think is fair. My next trip eary 2007 if I can get greek I`ll tip an extra $10. I don`t want this chicas screwing old men like me for peanuts.

I live here and usually tip $2 to $ 4 depending on the service but have to admit I tip one girl I see once a week
$10 for giving me bbbj to start , anal, and finish with bbbjcim.
