Nothing to be a white knight about but the best experiences come to those who learn not to blabber unnecessary details. Give a nod, a thumbs up, that’s good. Let people know if they are slim or fluffy. Quality of massage. But no need to get into personal details unless the provider is advertising those details or has asked that those details are shared. If the massage experience is terrible or their is theft or something is seriously unsafe, by all means help other folks by letting them know.

And thus sometimes when we get the feeling that somebody is only asking questions and not sharing their own knowledge it raises red flags that they have ulterior motives so we are reluctant to share with them. We all have experienced this: When I first discovered the forum I remembered being pissed off that everyone seemed to ignore my inquiries. It's just typical 'old boy's club'/Fraternity type of treatment where you need to prove yourself to join.

Maybe it's because I'm relatively new (on this forum, but not so much others), but I'm of the the opinion that Information should be accessible so that people are able to make the most informed decision they can: especially when someone is looking for something specifically. I do understand 'discretion' as I myself have withheld some details for things that I understood to be a 'keep to yourself' (aka exceptions). Gatekeeping information kinda feels weird to me, but I guess I can understand some of the rationale behind it if people perceive that it could do harm based on who they share it with.

I personally avoid seeing anyone who isn't at least transparent with what they are cool and not cool on their public advertisement: sharing any details for things not advertised is extremely frowned upon by some people I have noticed, even IF there are numerous accounts of those details are publicly available to view already.

Also in regards to YMMV, it seems contradictory as a particular service/detail being YMMV sounds like something that shouldn't even be publicized to begin with?

Sonetimes you make a connection with a lady and she gives,a piece of herself to you that is not typical. Absolutely do not share that. Some here will keep a lot of details to themselves it does take a bit to find a balance as to how much info to share. If you put it that way, it almost feels like the purpose of this forum is somewhat contradictory in nature. There's no illusion here that people are looking for the extras considering the site we are on here, so people will inherently inquire about them. Any information that is publicly accessible like this open forum inherently puts these semi-legit places at risk: not entirely sure if the amount of details on several 'anonymous ramblings' would really increase that risk more than just the fact that 'extras' are offered. I'm not against doing my part to protect these establishments, I guess I'm just a bit perplexed on how to do that exactly aside from just not talking about them at all publicly on a public forum?

Frankly, I respect the masseuses a heck of a lot more than most of you so as long as the request is reasonable, I would do it. No, I won't retract a negative review because the masseuse was pissed but I will remove details about the massage process or remove a positive review completely because of family concerns. Believe it or not, it is not insurance companies which concern the masseuses the most, it is their families, most of them have families who do know how to google their names.

To me, whether it is real or perceived, I need to balance the masseuses' right to privacy to your right to free information; I do respond to dm questions from respected members. No matter how hard I try, I still get angry dms, just last week, another angry dm from a masseuse about her review and I redacted as much details as possible without deleting the whole thing. I also deleted a complete review last month because of a dm. For those of you who DON'T write fresh reviews, this is the one side of being a reviewer you never see. If some of you don't like that, then TOFTT and write your own.

IMHO there is nothing worse than a good quality masseuse at a semi legit who was just starting to relax and selectively offer special services to decent clients, then decide to curtail services or be fired because of some moron who openly blabbered too much. Pointing out rip offs and poor services is more valuable than writing out intimate details of YMMV experiences. Many independent therapists are scared to offer more services because of the fear of unnecessarily detailed reviews.

I have been reviewing here and on other sites since 2018ish and I have never had someone ask me to remove or amend a review. Also, most of the ladies reviewed here don't use their real names anyway. Lost ability to direct bill because of reviews = Highly doubt. This is just a bunch of heresay on this forum. If the clinic has an RMT writing the receipts/doing the billing they would need more tangible proof than simply some stories on an internet forum to delist them.

Yeah I just did some Googling and two law sites and the Registered Massage Therapists Association of Ontario site and all three say RMTs get delisted for fraudulent billing practices and POSSIBLY if the RMT has been disciplined for conduct by the RMT association. So if they are charging the insurance company for the whole cost or billing when no services were rendered, then the insurance company cares. The insurance companies don't give a flying fuck if they are giving out hand whammies, as long as they don't bill the insurer for them.

If an RMT was reported to the Association for conducting sexual services and found guilty and disciplined, then insurance companies could possibly de-list them. The Association doesn't actively investigate though, someone would have to submit a complaint and then it would have to be proven/defended. THEN the insurance companies would have to decide if that is something they would want to de-list someone for. There is also a CBC article from a couple years ago on the topic.

So if your RMT gets de-listed, it probably isn't because you wrote a steamy penthouse letter on Massage Planet. It is much more likely that they were engaged in some sort of fraudulent activity.

I think Qster put it best about reviews being a balancing act between the right to 'privacy' vs the right to 'information' .

On one end of the spectrum, completely respecting the right to their privacy would mean that no information is ever shared and is only self contained in the information silos that are people's minds. On the other end of the spectrum, going into too all the details would mean a complete and utter violation of their privacy.

One one hand, never sharing any information means people will have a harder time finding what they are looking for, and on the other hand, it could lead to providers not offering those services in the future.

It personally hasn't happened to me yet on other forums where I've received a PM to redact certain details/remove reviews, but I would be lying if I wasn't concerned at the how much influence the service providers have on the reviews that are on here (and other forums): be it self censorship or through requests to have redactions/full on reviews removed.

Some posters here think they know it all. Insurance companies have become much smarter. They gather and share information with one another. Not only about fraudulent receipts but also about activities that go against the massage associations’ code of ethics. When suspicions crop up then those therapists fall under more scrutiny, along with any businesses they are associated with. And as Q stated, these providers also have family members and they have competitors who are eager to cause some damage. Highly stupid of those who think that their pseudonyms are a protection. Family members and competitors know who they are. Competitors also know their real names on receipts.

The idiots can carry on blabbering but they won’t be getting much information coming to them privately. GLTA
