Please , need some advice !

Hi !

I am a total newbie in the chair massage bussinness. And what is the worse thing ( or maybe is the best thing) that in my country (croatia) this type of massage is totally unknown.(-" what the heck is chair massage?!")
I would like to lease a space in the shopping mall ( as I've seen you guys have in the USA ) but the mall manager doesn't find it "attractive enough".
Is there any idea which I can use to pursue a little bit more , like WIFM principle?
[Namely, he wanted to rent the place to some attractive service, like "nail bar".
As the space would be very attractive for onsite masage( due to a huge people circulation)I have to find the proper words and way to explain him all the benefit , but he stills ask - what is in it for me ( for mall , in general).
I need a good proposal , written well!
Any idea, please?

My first thought is that if he thinks a nail bar will be "attractive" and "making the mall a better place" then I'm not really sure what his criteria are. A nail bar will be very stinky and create fumes that will not be fun to be around.

With a massage chair, you will be making people VERY happy AND healthy. Maybe you should offer to give him a 10 min chair massage so he can see whats so great about it. Also you may want to prepare a "benefits of massage" list, with references. It sounds like he needs to be educated on the benefits of massage!

I could maybe say more, but I need to know more what this guys wants. "Whats in it for him?" The rent money! I don't get it, please explain.

It will increase the amount of time people spend in the shopping mall. Instead of going home when they get overwhelmed and tired, they get a massage, feel better, continue shopping and spend more money in his mall.

Namely, he is the project manager of the shopping mall and he is decision maker of the renting space available at the mall.

He liked to have an explanation on what exactly the chair massage is and
why do I think that my offer is more attractive that the one of the owner of the nail bar.

My explanation in the first place were concentrated on the benefits of chair massage ( stress relief, etc).
But he wanted to know why he should give me the space instead to the
other renter ( the rent fee is the same for all the participants- so, I need to make a good persuasion to make him believe that the chair massage is the best contents and interesting potential for the biggest mall in the country.

What would you write in such an proposal? What would be yours best arguments?Although I don't know at the very moment how would people react on massage in the open space, but I hope and believe! it could work!

Personally I hate Nail Salons and I think the smell of them is very offensive. I would want to be as far away from it as possible if I were in the mall. If he is not receptive to the "massage is healthy and wonderful and will make people more relaxed, and open and thus open to shopping more and spending more money" then I would really focus on the fact that a Nail place is really going to drive people away (those who aren't getting their nails done) because of the toxic air and fumes.

It sounds like this is a hard man to work with! Even though having the massage in the mall sounds great, do you really want his guy to be your landlord? Anyway, seems like a tough situation. Good luck!

here we have small shops in the main walkway of the mall called 'kiosks' (sp?)

is it possible for you to set up in the walkway like that (less rent, more visibility). the ones here have little desk-type things that they sell retail items but it could be very do-able.

I suggest doing some hands on research to find out Have you done chair massage in public in any other areas? Outdoor markets, festivals, events, private parties, etc? How did it go? The answer depends on your culture. In our culture, people can be afraid of touch, especially in front of others. At the same time, they don't necessarily want to be touched by a stranger behind closed doors.

After you find out, then you have to start emphasizing the positives and addressing the negatives. Pay attention to what Zubio.com is doing; they spend a lot of time thinking about these things and coming up with possible solutions. And I can almost guarantee David Palmer would be willing to talk to you about the issues you're facing.

Have you been able to give the manager a massage yet?

Have you looked at other places to do your massage instead of this mall?

Thanks for the tips! It is hard to say how the people would react.
We are all different, some of us are afraid of touch, ashamed to be touched in the public and some are very open to the massage , generally.
I tried to convince the manager for a quick fix, but he refused ( lack of time was his excuse ?!).
I received my chairs 2 weeks ago so I didn't have any opportunity to present the massage at some other place.
We do have a Christmas Fair starting next week in December, but I'm not sure to rent the space there, while this one is visited by parents with the small kids and the rent is very high ( about 2500 $ for 2 weeks). I think I couldn't "cover" my self with such a high rent.
If I understood you well, you think I should mail to David Palmer about my issue? You think he might be interested in the someone on the old continent trying to spread the mouth of word for the business he invented?
If he only would...

Thank you for the link! I asked exactly for something like that in the main walkway, but he is not so open for my proposal. He said that our people are not used for sth like that in the open space and that nail bar is something more common and usable for his mall!
