Announcement Go Place Spa -- 5 star luxury spa open at First Markham Place

As was previously posted (Chat - Mega luxury spa in Markham Place ) the new Go Place luxury spa (Home | Go Place.com 東方匯) at now unofficially open. I had the pleasure of a tour of this place and I am blown away with the facility. It has Korean saunas, hot tubs, sauna, restaurant, lounges, beauty centre, gym and of course many legit massage options. The massage staff, both RMT and Oriental is screened by the massage services manager and by another senior manager and they have to perform 3 high quality consistent massages to be considered. They offer no less than 12 different massage services.

The admission price for unlimited daily use is $55, plus taxes and gratuities, which allows you to use all the facilities. Massage and meals are extra and the prices are reasonable. Your basic Oriental massage is $35/$50/ $60/$90 for 30/45/60/90 minutes respectively. You may also choose to tip your therapist/provider. Your RMT massage is $90 for 60 minutes and $130 for 90 minutes. A package of 10 massages is also offered at $450.

I feel like it's just another way of overcharging customers with a mandatory tip when there is no manual service involved?

It may work out as a private club with a one-time membership fee, say $5000-$10000 and members do not have to pay the entrance fee. Not sure if the economy in Toronto could support luxury facilities like this? Management may allow or even encourage other services, like HJ to keep the place busy. We shall see.

I imagine would see advertisements announcing the formal opening soon. I would go to take a look but doubt would become a regular client for such a setup.

U sound like a salty staff working there, lol. U got a dog in the race or something?

Im just against paying tips for no service at all, there are places that use tips as an additional charge to profit, might as well put it in the price to begin with.

The spa is open to men, women and children. Open 24/7.

This place may do okay in the short term but I just can't see a longer term market for it. Looks like way too much overhead. I could be wrong though, time will tell...

I think they would do better to make it an exclusive men's club for rich dudes...and yes, that means 'extra' services.

These spas seem quite successful in Asia. What makes us think they can't be as successful here with one of the highest asian density in Canada, without the need to offer to blow your nutsacks? Not saying they will be successful, but not entirely implausible either

Water Q spa on Woodbine ave is only 5 minutes away. It's a legit spa with 10-12 masseuses working every day and always busy. I don't see any problem with this new spa. Trust me, they have their own kind of clientele. I have seen lots of young wealthy couples going into Water Q spa quite often. Not everyone is looking for happy ending like us.
