I would like to give my most loyal regulars (about 6 of them for now) 30 minute free gift certificates for the holidays.  Do you think they will think "couldn't she have made it for an hour free massage?".  Some of them only come for 30 minutes normally.  Is this being cheap?  I don't want to put them off.   Denise

I think that would be a very nice gesture! If they're your loyal clients, I really don't think they'll use the free 30 minutes themselves. Any time I've tried to give my clients time for free or at a discounted price, they end up paying full price anyway. Not sure if everyone else has the same results, but that's how it usually goes for me. You oughta just give them a 'free 30-minute' gift certificate, and tell them they can either use it themselves, or give it to a friend. Hopefully they'll give it to a friend, because we all love new clients!

I have a one client that I give a free hour massage to every year.  I see her at least 2 times a month for 2 hours a visit.  I also keep my fees at the same rate that we agreed on in the beginning.  $15hr less than my regular fee.  She has been very good for my business.For a few others I like to buy a personal gift.For the rest of my clients, I make homemade chocolate candy and pass it out starting a few weeks before the holiday.  They all love it.Whenever I do a coupon mailing most of my regular clients won't use the coupon.  They already feel that they are getting their money's worth.  I try to save discounts for when I do marketing for new clients or incentive for a client that hasn't been in for a while.If the gift comes from you with sincerity, IMO, it doesn't matter what it is.  They will appreciate it.

My gym just sent me three GC's for two week trials for friends/family.

I think they will appreciate it too.  But, if you feel "cheap" about it...why not just make it an hour?  If they usually only come in for a 1/2 hour and you give them an hour as a "treat"...maybe they'll start booking for an hour normally?  I too sometimes feel funny about giving only 30 minutes so I always do an hour.   But that's just me.  I'd rather feel like I gave too much than wonder if it was enough.  But like stated above....it's really the thought that counts.   Do what you feel good about!

Thanks for your help everyone.  I will give them the certificates as you mentioned, telling them they can use them or pass them on to someone else.  I will give them a small gift like bath salts with the certificates to round out the gift.  The odd thing is these very people who have been so loyal to me and rave about their massage never seem to recommend me to anyone.  I do mention on my flyer that if they recommend someone, then they get a free 30 minute massage for themselves and I mention it to them now and then, but so far no luck?? I am frustrated!!!    Denise

I'm doing homemade jam this year!  If I can get the recipe to work...Last year I found those cozy fuzzy slipper socks on sale for $2/pair and put them in a gift bag with a peppermint stick, chocolate santa, a candle, and these neat little boxes of "gourmet" hot chocolate that I separated out of a bigger hot chocolate gift set.  It was a big hit and cost me about $6 per client.  Katykangaroo

for my realy good clients i get them like 50.00 to dinner or the moviesthey seem to like the movies the bestone of my best clients is having a hard time this year and he works hard to save his money so he can come and see me but then he doesn't have much left over for food so i'm getting him 100.00 to safeway anyway thats what I do

well he cuts hiar and I don't have any so that doesn't leave much.he also isn't the type to use any discounts that I have offerd in the past .he always wants to make sure I get paid for my workhe is a very sweet person but also very stuburn

Wow! It is obvious by this thread that there are a tremendous number of caring practitioners on this board.  I think your clients will appreciate anything you give them as long as it comes from the heart.I like to give my regulars smoked turkeys for holiday gifts.  My husband started this tradition with our family and friends a few years ago and it went over really well so I started doing this with my clients too.
