They havent been out of the first round since my nephew was 1. He is now old enough to drink alcohol. What the fuck makes you think this collection of duds can be studs? Marner is soft. Matthews is a magician, he disappears every playoffs. They sign proven playoff performers like Thornton and Simmonds because they have so many Stanley cup rings???? They adopted the wrong model. Toews and Kane got 10 million per year contracts for delivering 3 cups in 5 years. Marner and Matthews get 10 million per year for delivering 5 straight first round exits. They are as close to winning now as they were in 2013. which is not close

You definitely can't compare today's team with the one from 2013. Be realistic.

Totally agree. Perry and Stall have rings and pedigree. Better grits signings than Thornton Simmonds and Spezza with no cups. Then look at Gallagher. I hate that little fuck. But you have to respect what he brings and gives. That's what the Leafs have been missing for 2 decades. I honestly think Leaf Nation and the media are part of the problem. I dont think Steve Stamkos feels pressure to win in Tampa. And when the Leafs were up 3-1 on Mtl all the talk was about choking instead of meeting the Jets in round 2

Not every team in the league can sign players with Stanley Cup Rings. There's 31 teams in the league. Everybody wants them, but nobody wants to lose them either. In all fairness, the Leafs did have Cup winners in Zach Bogosian, and Ron Hainsey before him. But I'm glad they didn't sign Steve Stamkos. The guy's injured more often than he plays.

By the way, would you want the Leafs to bring back cup winner Tyler Bozak?

Bozek is Haisey and Bogo. Tyler was a 3C on St Loo behind Schenn and OReilly. Bogo and Haisey are 6 and 7s at best. Bogo was hardly a determining factor in the Cup run Tampa had. Christ he had never been in the playoffs ever before last year and the guy has been in the league for 14 years. If you want to compare Bogo and Haisey with Perry and Staal you are going to lose all credibility. Bogo and Haisey were passengers when they got a cup ring. Staal and Perry were the reason their teams won. And dont even get me started on the gold medals by the players you are comparing as they dont exist. Or the issue of American vs Canadian players on the desire scale. Since mid 90s when US hockey took off 20 Canadian born conn smythe winners vs 4 American. Explain that. So go ahead and keep matthews cuz he can light the lamp but dont expect Bogo and Haisey to lead you to a Cup.
