The drug cartel violence is kept out of the red light district.

As OC said, providing you don't go wandering off looking for trouble, you should be fine. Do your research and stick to either La Zona or one of the established escort agencies. Maybe try a massage parlor but they are normally not the best that TJ has to offer.

The most common causes of death with regard to TJ mongering are heart attack and stroke. The number of overweight, hard-smoking, hard-drinking, beet-red nosed, middle-aged U.S. mongers in La Zona is akin to the number of grains of sand on the beaches of Southern California. Add in a dose or two of an ED pharmaceutical and you have the most dangerous situation in TJ for mongers.

I googled for any mention of any TJ violence and got nothing other than the usual drug-related violence that seems to be the norm in those circles. The zone norte, AB, HK, etc, are not mentioned. I just think the violence has crossed a new threshold this year and I feel that the probability of getting collateral damage has increased. Hey OCH - I've thought the same for years, but a few of my friends live in TJ and they drive back and forth to work every day from there to SD and back. They said it's safe for tourists and I felt safe when I visited. It was a lot less busier than in the past. I'm not sure if that's due to economy or the safety precautions.

The ladies at Mermaid's had the jimmy's in their little purses. The one I was with had like half a dozen in there (orange packaging with some type of flower). I negotiated $50, but they originally asked for $100. I laughed and said I could walk across the street and pay $60. They were ok with $50, but I added a $10 tip after the shower together and the GFE. I always negotiate multiple pops or we don't even start I'll check out Mermaid's again next week perhaps. It's cheaper than the SD strip clubs or AMP experience and you get more quality and attention in TJ.

After this, I walked around, bought a banana and bottled water from a grocery store for 0.85 cents. I took the second part of my 100MG viagra and checked out AB and HongKon. Quick Trip Report from May 5th visit: It's been some time since I've visited TJ....avoiding it because of the reported troubles in the news, but I had some time to kill and I said what the heck. I went in the afternoon, parked across from JackintheBo#x and walked across the border. They now have a new bridge open that takes you across the road and it's a nicer and shorter trip. Took cab to Zona Norte for $5. Walked out in front of HongKong and got stopped by a street husterl..."amigo, amigo, we have 60 min massage with 2 naked ladies for $25". I said "$25" and he confirmed three times. I said what the heck and walked across the street with him to "Mermaids". Up the stairs, sat down and they brought in 5 girls. All of them were nice, I'd rate from 6-8. I picked two of them and we went into the room. It was full service for $60 on top of this fee with one of the girls and I had a great time. I let the other girls go. The room cost $35. I spent over an hour with the girls and banged her 3 times. It was really good and then we took a shower together to clean up. I got her email address for another private session. She was a "student visiting during spring break".....whatever. she was very pretty.
