Rumors abound that we had a shooting at SL recently. Anybody heard the details?

I was wondering when this topic would come up. : I was in the gulch the weekend before last, visited the SL on Saturday night, then the next morning, I received an e-mail from a CRT member who asked me if I was hurt in the shoot-out. :shock:

I'm interested to here what happened... :wink:

RUMOR has it that it was a jealous boyfriend of one of the bartenders. Guy never made it inside SL and nobody that I'm aware of was hurt.

Gentlemen,

This post is a correct account of this unfortunate occurance. I was at the Lodge, inside watching the UFC #167 event Sat. Nov. 16th, there were shots fired into the air outside. The SJ police arrived within 4 minutes due to the quick call and the police substation being so physically close to SL. This gentleman, a local, was unable to penetrate our security to enter. To my knowledge he was id`ed by our staff and arrested with in a couple of hours near El Pueblo a local place for congregation and partying. I was told the charges were dropped after security video showed shots into the air. The gun was confiscated from his car. We are still surprised that there were no charges after the arrest and that he was released within hours.

Since Sat. 16th we have started scanning id`s of all non-hotel guests entering SL. The scan allows us to record the id`s. We have been scaning customers for years to to keep weapons out of Sportsmens Lodge.

This is NOT a rumor. It did happened and both were wrestling nekkid!! Schlongs were flying everywhere! :

Similar thing 10 years? ago at the DR. Drunk off duty SJ cop, forgot the motive, fired a few rounds from just outside the door, hit the wall of the upper bar, and alot of people hit the floor. Don't remember what happened to him.

I was there right behind they guy that had an issue with a gringo at the bar putting his arm around one of the hosteses at the bar. the gringo had no idea what was about to happen as this Tico got more and more irritated.. We called over security and the Tico started to yell at the gringo like he was going to go after him. Security stepped in between them and escorted the Tico out with his friends. we all continued to watch the fight. About 30 seconds to a minute later we heard One gunshot and about 10 seconds later another gunshot. about half the bar moved toward the back of the bar. The other half had no idea what was going on. police came. took statements. They stayed for awhile. Now I don't know who actually fired the weapon because I was inside but when we left and got into the cab there was a bullet whole in the driver side windshield right behind the steering wheel and another cab with a bullet whole in its bumper. Don't know weather it was the same guy that was escorted out or it was one of his friends. But I did see the damage. Bill was visible in the bar area right after the shots were fired and seemed to keep everything well under control. The security staff seemed to do whatever they could and was trying not to escalate the issue.

I may not have a popular view but having all those Ticos at the Lodge now is a nightmare waiting to happen. Let's face it; Ticos hate gringos and sooner or later there is going to be a big problem.

Really can't figure why they want to hang around a gringo place. Can't be for the girls who most probably are not going to take their offers. Can't be for the prices.

I understand this guy was apparently involved with an employee so that's why he was in there. But the others? I don't get it.
