Sex Tourist?

Hey, I'm a newbie. Haven't been to LOS yet, but I'm planning to go by myself in April, not solely for the reason of sex. But I wonder how many of you guys only go for this reason? Do you consider yourself to be a "sex tourist"?

Without wishing to labour the point overly, I have a major problem with this line of thinking.

I've never discussed, much less denied, what my priorities are when I go to Thailand or anywhere else. My problem is this Western obsession with pinning a label on everybody and everything.

If you do some research, just google it, on the phrase 'sex tourist' you will find that around half the articles are to do with people charged with child abuse.

The perception of a 'sex tourist' in this country is of a nasty old man with jam-jar glasses, a plastic bag full of porno and a long coat wanking himself off in front of a webcam and fantasising about the day he can 'pull' a 12 year old for real.

It's a phrase peddled by moral crusaders who don't want a discussion about what a decent guy you are and how well you treat girls. You hold your hand up and give it the big 'yeah me, I'm a sex tourist' and you go in the same box as Gary Glitter and every other sicko that you found on google.

It's not about being straight up in regard to your priorities. Every tabloid journalist that has turned up in Patong has been a pr1ck: they lie, misquote and stitch people up at the drop of a hat. They don't want the truth, they want to hang you out to dry, if you want to make their job easy then go ahead.

If anybody asks me if I am a sex tourist I consider it a loaded question; the person who has asked it already has a perception of what that means and wishes to label me in the same way.

I get asked a lot about my reasons for visiting Thailand, and my answer is generally the same. I like the women, the cost of living, the climate, the food and the culture. Pretty much in that order. As far as I am concerned, people who have never been to Thailand, or journalists who have done their usual bottom feeding, have no right to an opinion on something they cannot possibly comprehend. Anybody who wants to have a pop at me while grasping at the moral high ground will get told to f**k off.

Yeah Johhny the TG.. .what can I say are pure heaven, but mate honestly theres more to it then that. Im not denying the girls, but I do tend to settle. This trip was all about partying and the lads. It was the best trip ever and that was 5 times. If it were not for this board and its members I dont think it would have been NEARLY as good. Now Unfortualtely I was too drunk hal of the time to see moe of the country.... next time though. One more thing I never have a hard time pulling nice ladies at home I just cant stand the biatches. Thats another reason for Thailand or Japan, or Korea when I go there.

If you mean 'are you a sleazy old pervert like every newspaper in the UK says you are because you go to Asia and shag young girls' then the answer would be **** off and find another forum I guess.

Shark I know what your saying. Its just a shame that I have to go through persecution BEFORE I even go there. I never been with a real young TG there, Its just not my bag. I usually like the about 24 - 30. Just around my age range. I have never been accused of playing that fiddle though. Did come across a young lass with Big Mac in BKK though... she Meowed at us :what: Looked about 16?

Thanks for the link to the old thread IJ. It seems that opinions have not changed much in a few years.
Personally, I actually try and tell people of my trips to LOS and find that most people don't want to know! I have convinced a couple of mates and their wives as well as my mother and 2 sisters to visit LOS and all of them say they they will be back! Does that make them sex tourists?
There have been a few people that have made the automatic assumption that if I am going to LOS it must be for sex. The interesting part of this comment is that ALL of them had never been away from home except for work!
In answer to the question:- Yes, I am a sex tourist if I find someone that I can enjoy spending time with (ST is not really for me) and I have no problem in paying them for their time. Most times it is the girl who expects sex more than me! (maybe just conditioning or work ethic!)

Okay, I get your point…If people are not open to the truth (good or bad) then it is a waste of breath to explain your position...But be honest with yourself and to those whom make an honest enquiry.

Guess in some way I would call myself a sex tourist. And I believe quite several other BMs here go to do different things they would not dare doing at home with regards to sex.
Or would you tell your buddies that you had a night with one or more ladyboys???
Or would you tell your gf that you had a night with several BGs?
LOS gives us the freedom to explore different ways of life with a smile and no regrets.
So if ypu do it right there is a win win situation for all.
So I believe this so called sex tourism is a very positive way!

Faulty, you are cherry picking, because the rest of that definition goes on to say 'often wrongly interchanged with child sex tourism' and that is wholly my point.

I total feel you guys on the stereo type that the media gives a guy who is just out to find a good time. I don't really have all the luck with the ladies, now I'm not saying that I'm a dirty old pervert, but having the ability to cut through the cr*p and spend the evening with a lady would be rather nice. Not to mention the beautiful country itself! So since I am a bit new at this, how do you bounce the questions off about Thailand when they come up? Especially from the likes of my female friends?
