Pricing protocol on PERB

I've been here awhile now. And while long long time ago in a galaxy far far away (ok it was here) someone or some persons decided to "standardize" our way of indicating pooning pricing, I still see pricing references that I believe are inaccurate, if unintentionally so.

To date, the "agreed-upon" protocol is:

$ = 100 = 5 greens

So it follows that, for amounts > $100, would, as example be written:

$.2 = $140 (7 greens)
$$.5 = $250 (12 greens and 1 purple)

And amounts < $100, would be written, as example:

.6 = $60 (3 greens)

Personally I prefer $1.0 to mean $100 and $2.0 = $200 and $0.6 = $60, and so on. But that's not what's the accepted standard and I'm ok with that as long as it is used consistently.

However lately I've been seeing posts where I believe when people say, for example "$0.8" they really mean $80. And so forth. I could very well be wrong, but based on context that's what they sound like to me. I hate having to post just to ask for clarification on how much another pooner donated to an SP.

So I'm wondering since eforum.xxx has a constant turnover of members, whether the protocol we've been using so far is still clear and understood by everyone. Is it a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ? Or perhaps people feel it could stand some tweaking ?

I've always been partial to $1 equals one dollar.

I think it should go like this:

$100 = 100,
$120 = 120,
$250 = 250
$60 = 60.

That's the way I like it aha aha!

Seriously, if the sp puts the rates in her ads and/or site, what is the big deal about making it simple when posting what you paid? Why does it have to be a "system" in the first place.

It seems to me that usage of reds, greens and browns was to mindfuck the Yankees.

There also seems to be some kind of mistaken notion that if you say your donation to an SP for FS was $$.5 then any law enforcement types who were lurking would not realize you meant you paid $250 to have sexual relations with a prostitute.

I've never been able to understand why guys on here supposedly pooning in Canada write out the donation in various moronic ways. They're not fooling LE because I'm sure they can easily figure it out themselves and there are no legal issues when discussing trading money for sex in this country. These guys watch too much American TV.

And then you get newbies pretending like they know the lingo and get it all wrong, followed by some other guy asking ".40? did you mean $.40?"

Just write it out normally and avoid the hassle.

I don't think it worked - when I've toured a lot of Americans would list my prices in the same colours and then pay me the correct amount in American dollars.

Example:

"The rate on your site is 2 browns and a red for 1 hour right?"
"Yes that's right"
"Brown for a Tour of the Islands?"
"Yes"

and the greens and browns and reds and purples (reminded me of cheech and chong on acid or something)
thing took me awhile to figger out when i first came on the board here. but then, it was kind of like an initiation rite. when you finally figger out, you "belong". lol.

kato, i don't think changing from 160 = $.6 to 160 = $1.6 will work kuz of the inconsistency w past practice. guys'll look back and go $.6? what the hell - they paid 60 bucks for fs back then!?!

i dunno what the answer is but i think we should dump the $ sign kuz it gets confusing when some guy writes $$$ meaning lots of dollars but not exactly 300. plus i miss the shift 4 .5 of the time and it ends up #.6 or %.6 and i have to go back and correct.

the beauty of the decimal point is that it saves from typing so many 0s.

so 160 = 1.6
i'm cool with that and like it better than 8 jade canoes or 8 greens which frankly just takes longer to type.

bottom line is i don't really care, i can usually figger out what a guy means, except i'm colour blind to a degree so i keep staring at the bills in my wallet going, wait is this purple or red and are they the same? plus i never get a fifty or a hundred so how the hell do i know what colour they are. it's all electronic now and the atm just doles out green ones.

IF we must have a "system", then I vote we go with dividing actual donations by 100. Simple. Done. Essentially:

.2=$20
.4=$40
.6=$60
.8=$80
1.0=$100
2.0=$200
3.0=$300
10.0=$1000 (not that I would ever be able to afford that in the first place .....)
etc .......


Do you think we can get some sort of consensus to go with this from now on ?

How about this...
If you mean eighty dollars, you write: $80.
If you mean two hundred and fifty dollars, you write: $250.

No, that would never work. Too difficult to do so much typing.
