I am having a photographer come in to my practice and take pictures of me, my room and me massaging someone. My 'massage model' has long dark hair and I am trying to decide if I should have her with her hair down or have her have it up in a classy like up do? I know it's just a small detail but I want these pictures to be great! I have seen so many different things doneI am going to have my hair down for the pictures of just me and then will pull it back for the ones where I am massaging. Let me know!

Speaking from my experience, the picture would be more realistic if the hair of the model was tied up. It might be more artistic if it were down.

My long-haired regular gathers her hair up in a loose bun right on top of her head, to make sure it's out of the way no matter where I'm working.

That's funny, I always ask people to take their hair out of their ponytails or buns because I find it makes doing head massage and occipital work easier. For me hair down would be realistic.

Well....to complicate it more, lol.....my clients with longer hair tend to put it up in a quick, loose ponytail or banana clip for prone work and either they or I pull it out when all I have left to do is head massage.

For the picture, I think I would want it up, just to look like I *could* massage the back. A nice updo may not be totally realistic, but it would make a pretty picture!!

it's just preference - what do you normally do during your tx? i'm a hair-down therapist as well, b/c i also do quite a bit of scalp work with the client prone. do what you'd normally do.

Im not talking like a prom up do or anything I was thinking kinda like (i really don't know what it's called) but I think it's a French twist???? where it's nice and smooth and up out of the way but still nice looking. I just don't know what to do! *sigh*

I think a French Twist is an excellent idea. It will offer a great view of her back that you will be massaging.

I prefer my clients to have their hair up while I work on their backs and shoulders then I remove the clip when I work on their heads. Interesting to read about so many different approaches.

A french twist is a beautiful, simple look - I think that will be perfect! Zoe, it's kind of fun to read that you deal with hair the way I do. It is very interesting how many different ways there are to do things!

Thanks! I was hoping the french twist would be a good idea! If we do pictures with the 'Model' supine, should I take her hair down or leave it up? I am taking her to the hair school in town and having it done for her, so part of me doesn't want to cuz I will have spent money on it! But I also am more concerned with the pictures turning out professional looking! Also thanks everyone for your input! It's also great to see the different ways people deal with longer hair!

Dependingon the room, and sheet color, it may be a beautiful picture to have her prone, sheet up to her shoulders, and the hair spread out on her back/sheet. To get to work, you'djust gather it up, and let hang down along the table as normal. Or wherever it goes. :undecided:

I think I would leave it up as long as it looks comfortable for her. Again, having it up and away from the body allows people to see her neck and shoulders. I am guessing these pictures will also include you placing your hands on her shoulders, neck or back. I think having an unobstructed view of the client would give more bang for the buck.

I'm curious if you will have her face in a face cradle or turned to look at the camera? I always see spa pictures where the model has their face and neck turned in a side lying position and think YIKES!! that looks uncomfortable to me. lol

I have been thinking about how to have her lay too. I agree it looks uncomfortable but the pictures always look wonderful and the person does look relaxed. Maybe I will do a few of each and see what turns out better!

You either email them to everyone (not reccommended) or you post them to a picture hosting site and post the linkys. There is a FAQ around somewhere.

The easiest way would be for the photographer to email them to you so you could up load them to share.

When you have them uploaded to your files, right click on the one you want to share, copy it, come here and right click/paste. You could save your post as a draft until you get the pics you want copied here.

Somebuddy who actually has a computer and has posted pics here might have an easier way to do it

Otherwise, you would have to get prints scanned.
