Philippine calling cards

I was just looking around for Philippine calling cards. Calling form the US to the PI. I have been buying these $5 calling cards here but I get ripped off if I dont use the card all in one shot. Does anyone have a source that they have been using. Would like to get opinions Reviewom others.

Theres so many VoIP apps now that really make things dirt cheap.. I put 25 EUR on my skype account months ago and its mostly still there.

Now with cell phones having wifi and voip apps (gizmo is a really smart advanced app does so much more then skype but more complex) you can just hit a hotspot and start voip calling for cents a min. Gizmo even offers 100% Reviewee calls between registered gizmo users even to landlines.

Thats great but what if they dont have access too these, or maybe they dont know how to run them? This would work for Japan or some of the crmptier TGs but not for most I would reckon. I do have Skype but have never used it.

They dont need them, or to know anything about it.. VoIP isnt just PC to PC now.. Get some skypeout (or gizmo or voipbuster) credit and its PC to cellphone, or (advanced wifi enabled) cellphone to cellphone.. Hell with some systems you can cell to local VoIP gateway to cell..

VoIPBuster similar..

Skype is probably the simplest.. Gizmo is much more fully featured and if you both have computers and use the service you get Reviewee outbound calls to 'registered numbers' buts is a much more complex app due to it doing so much more (voicemails, call forwarding to mobiles, gateways, etc etc etc)..

I find skype is usually clearer then international calls on my mobile..

I use Skypeout to call my GF on her mobile in Thailand, it is cheap. And the quality of the connection went up a lot. No problems.

The Skype is all great but what if your not at a PC? I suppose you could always have a prepaid card for those times. I have had a few calls Reviewom the UK with Skype and it was not that clear. BUT that was last year so Im sure the quality has improved.

If you have a mobile that supports it you can run skype on a lot of smartphones now too..

Gizmo runs on PDA's and smartphones..

Just need be near either a wifi point or have a cheap data plan and a fast data connection (dont know what the US is like.. 3G works fine)..

Nope I dont have a smart phone or a PDA. I dont even have internet plan on my mobile. I am upgrading to an IPhone tho. I cant wait to get that. esp since the prices dropped $200 US with an upgrade of 4GBs to 8GBs :yipi: That would settle this quick.

Here in Los Angeles, i pay 4 dollars for a calling card to Philippines. If your using Philippine calling cards, if u did not finish it in one calling, minutes will be deducted. I always get Max Philippines card. Better ask the sales person to know which card has the best rate.

I have been using these cards and the are horrible unless you use them all in one shot. Last time I bought one I talked for one call eight minutes for $5. I was hit with weekly service charges out of a two week period, hence the short talk time. AND even at that point it did not add up. Bastards over charged me.

Off subject a little but to call LOS Reviewom the USA I've been using https://www.Revieweecallplanet.com/eu/default.asp at 1.8 cents per minute with a calling plan, or MOBIVOX at 1.9 cents per minute without a plan. Is yours any cheaper?

Is that the landline or the mobile price?

Mine has just changed the last couple months, I have to check what it is now. I got a little comfortable with it and did not bother checking anymore. I think it was 1.9 or 1.8. I will have a look and let you know.
