Justy got a puppy from the pound, when can I introduce it to my other dog?

I have an 85 pound german shepherd that is my baby. I've had him since he was 6 weeks old and now he's almost 4 years. He is up to date on his vaccines (bordatella, rabies, parvo, and another one i can't remember). The puppy is only 7-8 weeks and we took her straight to the vet to get her vaccines right after we got her. She had worms, but we've been deworming her and she seems to be doing well now. we've had her for 5 days and they still have not been able to interact because I was worried about contaminating my dog in any way if she did have something. How long should I keep her quarantined? Is my dog okay if he already has his vaccines?
The vet said that the pound I had gotten her from was known to have a few problems with parvo and to keep them apart for a week and then they would be okay. But then I explained to the nurse that he had already had his parvo vaccine and she said they should be fine.
@ Kiba- Thanks. I got this dog from animal control so I’d expect that if it were illegal they would have not let me purchase her. Also, my German shepherd was purchased at 6 weeks old and we had no problems. This is the third German shepherd I’ve raised from puppyhood and I know their disposition very well. He can be aggressive but doesn’t seem to care much about her being here yet. I know that may change. Thanks you very much for your advise. I will try it.

@Mammabas- My other dog takes monthly medicine to protect him from worms and fleas. The puppy surprisingly did not have fleas. She is too young to medicate for them, so I’m thankful she did not have them.

For future reference, you shouldn't never adopt a pup under the age of 8 weeks. Its actually illegal in the US. But anyway. I think it would be find to introduce them.

To introduce them, just keep them separated, Bring each dog something that smells of the other. Let them sniff awhile first. then bring them to a door where they can meet underneath. Once you feel they are ready to meet, have them both on leash with treats ready. Once they've looked at each other for about 10 seconds, give each dog a treat and praise. Just keep doing that three times a day but getting closer and closer. i would be very aware as the German Shepherd is known for its aggression in dogs.

As long as your existing dog is up to date with his vaccination boosters I'd say it's okay to allow them together. But if your vet knows there's a problem there with Parvo. I think I'd listen to his advice. It's also possible that this Pound has Kennel Cough in there which even if your existing dog has been vaccinated against, he could still pick up because the viral form of KC mutates and just as with human flu, it can still be passed on.

You might be well advised to worm your other dog, if this puppy came to you with worms. I'd also check your puppy, and treat, for fleas.
