Introducing a kitten to another kitten?

I have had one kitten Destin who was given to me about a week ago. He adapted well to me and the surroundings. I wanted a playmate for him, so I got a new kitten (Disney) yesterday. It does nothing but play by himself and hisses and spats at Destin. I want them to get along and play together. Disney was taken from Momma and his two siblings. Wonder if that is the issue. Everything I see says give it time. But, it kills me that one is very loving and the other looks evil...lol. Advice on how to get the two to love one another? Is it just a matter of time? And, how long should I expect it to take for the love in the house to come back? Destin is so carefree, he just keeps loving and being himself. Disney seems to be the problem.

I recently moved into a new house where the owner had informed us that she would leave her 4 year old male cat because she couldn't take it with her as she was moving into a caravan. We also had a female cat that we had, had for 3 years from a kitten. My cat had already had to move into my Grans while we were moving from my old house. My gran also had a male cat that was 6 years old. We refrained from letting them in the same room because he was much bigger and more vicious. He had the same feeling towards my cat as your cat has towards the kitten. When we moved into the new house we kept the new cat separate for a week because my cat had to get used to the environment but after that we let them get on with it. They do fight but they soon realize the other cat is not going to be going it took around a month. If they do fight just try to stop them don't shout at them because one cat is going to feel less loved and more jealous it is bound to happen more! my cats now sleep in the same room. Try feeding them together or playing with them at the same time. Try not to be tense around the cats because they can sense the mood in the room and they feel they are under pressure

you didnt mention their ages but make sure to spay/neuter !

Disney is in a new environment, with new smells, sounds, people AND another kitten. He's missing him mom and siblings, and this may take a few days for him to "come around".

Meantime, put Destin on the floor and pick up Disney. If he scratches or hisses, that's okay. He's scared.....but if you'll spend a little one-on-one time with him, he'll calm down. It just takes a little patience and time......after all, it's only been ONE DAY!!

Get an old heavy ( athletic ) sock and tie it in a knot. Give one end to Destin and the other to Disney. Let them play tug-of-war with it....or, put a PAPER grocery sack on the floor and let them play hide & seek.

When I had kittens, I made them a "tunnel" to play through. I cut off both ends of some 2 liter bottles and taped them together ( inside & out, so no sharp edges ), and my kittens loved chasing each other through the tunnel. Sometimes, they'd sleep in it. It was clear, so I got a kick out of watching them. Toss a ball for them to chase and "the race is on".

My kittens loved their tunnel so much, that when they outgrew it, I got a "pipe" ( heavy cardboard concrete "piling" form ) from Home Depot, covered it with scrap carpet, and made them an new, larger tunnel / scratching "object". I made a "holder"...... I_I.....for each end, to keep the "pipe" from rolling. My cats ( 4-15 ) STILL run, chase, and play through it. Money WELL SPENT !!
