You compare there averages to the same period averages from years past. Then you are supposed to analyze and adjust for things like supply and demand. When demand outstrips supply prices go up (high school economics). The economy is recovering so demand goes up. Some people avoid s public transit because of Covid so they drive and demand goes up. OPEC controls supply and they haven’t increased it to keep prices high to recovery what they lost last year. The power outages in Texas hurt supply and supply went down.

You obviously don’t live on planet earth. We’ve been getting gouged at the pump for decades. But, smart people actually budget for that necessary expense and can adjust there spend on other more disposable areas (like hobbying).

why aren’t your cutting back on beer, alcohol and cigarettes to find your gas money? Why aren’t you running around looking in peoples recycling bins for empties to take back for refunds for some extra coin? Smart people would find a way to deal with it instead of crying like a baby about it.
