Did you ever call one of your regulars by the wrong name? They are both cute and lovely, and honestly for one to be equated with another in my mind is a high compliment, but they do not see it that way.

It always amazes me when smart people believe in stupid things. Their brilliant minds see patterns where none exist like seeing number patterns in the Bible and inferring overall causality. When I was still active in martial arts I would occasionally run into these types. Another type I would run into, and did so recently in a different setting, are the "serious guys with a vaguely defined missions", like seeking revenge and trying to get back stolen family fortunes. They are so intense that no one confronts them on their bullshit, which in turn validates them.

Childhood is overrated. In my case anyways, I am enjoying life more as a person with personal autonomy than I did as a kid with very little control over my environs.

The canon of generally accepted everyday knowledge seems to be its own kind of organism, continually adapting as conditions change, but with some ancient notions that still hold up. I feel that the subset that has to do with the world of paid sex has much wisdom that none of its participants ever fully comprehends. My interactions with SWs are not just with individuals but in some sense they are with a greater whole that extends across all human history.

A few times in an onsen (bathhouse) in Japan I entered a pool with a bunch of Japanese men (who are very shy people), only to suddenly realize twenty minutes later my companions have moved to other pools to avoid interacting with me. I remember once as a teenager one of my porn magazines disappeared for a few days and then reappeared. After a weird conversation with my father, I figured out it was him. Awkward! He apparently had a suddenly awakened interest in lesbians. Who knew we had so much in common? But something I definitely did not want to share with my dad!

A girl had a crush on me in high school but I was not attracted to her. But I did like the attention. No other girls were interested in me that I was aware of. There was a tension between wanting a girlfriend and me not being attracted to her. I felt a little guilty about it and only later realized it was actually her personality that turned me off, not her average looks. She said she was in awe of my intellect, but she was actually smarter than me and just wanted to have a boyfriend. I got away with a long dissertation about how the universe was all holes and things that filled those holes. I guess I found her at least a little attractive?!

Since this is a good place for my random shit, here goes another one.

This afternoon I took my dog for a walk. I thought came into my head about how so many people are completely useless in an emergency - people stand around and watch, some cry out "somebody call 911", they show concern but take no action. Coincidentally ten minutes later I notice a woman talking on her phone and looking into a gated area behind a library. I look where she is staring and see a man passed out on the ground with a bicycle on top of him who looked in bad shape. I ask the woman if she had called for help, but no, she has been talking to someone on the phone about what she should do. Bicycle man is not responding to our calls out to him. Another man is watching the scene from a distance. I get the woman to hold my dog, climb over the gate (which starts to open as I am climbing over it), walk over to the guy and start talking to him. He gradually comes out of a daze and insists that he is okay. He looks beat up, has old cuts all over his legs and a partially bandaged finger that is infected and swollen to three times its normal size. He seems to be an itinerant person who is living a rough life. A staffer from the library then comes on to the scene (who probably was the one to open the gate as I was climbing over it). Bicycle man struggles for a few minutes to get to his feet, reassures us that he is okay, so I went back to get my dog. The other looky-loo nods heads at me like "we" did something. Bicycle man is then able to ride away.
