It doesn't turn up so discreetly because everyone tends to overanalyze everything when it is the last thing you should be doing in this business. Because of the intimate nature of the industry, everyone always forgets that it's just as transactional as a wine purchase or a haircut at the barber shop. Giving our favourite girls gifts shouldn't be a big deal. You're not a simp for doing it but you're not any more special either. I don't care for most of the gifts I receive but I appreciate the gesture and happily accept them.

I paid $8,500 US for my '59 in 1981. Bought at Guitar Trader in Red Bank, NJ, one of the few vintage stores at that time. Same place I bought my '52 Tele, '61 ES-335, '56 Strat, and '57 Gretsch 6120 (transition year, so Dynasonic pickups, but thumbnail fret markers).

Got $270K Canadian for the Les Paul in 2010, when the Canadian dollar was actually a bit higher than the US dollar. Early '59 so small frets. OK flame, good colour, sweet player, killer "brighter than you would expect" PAF tone. Only issue was the tuner heads shrinking problem.

Sad story. The guy who bought it was an young investment banker. A couple of years later he went to England with his family to celebrate his 10th wedding anniversary. Looked the wrong way while crossing a busy London Street and got killed instantly by a car coming from his right.

At one time I had around 30 guitars, including several vintage National Duolians, Style O's and a Style 1, all bought at Mandolin Bros. in Staten Island. Was never much into wooden acoustics.

All gone now, except for a 15 year old Gibson SG, and a 2 year old Fender Vintera Tele, made in Mexico with an ash body & maple neck. Both bought at good old Long & McQuade. I don't even have callouses on my left hand finger tips any more cuz I play so rarely.

I did have a '65 Hummingbird that I "Nashville high strung". It had an very slim & fast neck, but I hardly ever used it and so sold it rather quickly.

Pre-Gibson Epiphones were great guitars, and quite valuable. The Zephyr was amazing.

I was always looking for an original Epiphone Casino, but never found one.

found this in a coat pocket the other day. It was for the “Vintage” hummingbird. The bird actually has a significance in my life. They also have a “Dove” model that’s difficult to find.

I was already 29...

In 1978, when living in Montreal, at Richard's Musique I bought a '58 Les Paul Standard, ok condition, neck pickup later than a PAF, bird's eye maple top, for 1,000 plus my '67 Les Paul gold top reissue.

Sold the '58 for 5,000 in 1981, and that's when I went down to Guitar Trader in 1981 and bought my '59.

my prized Ricki 381 v69 with rare finish. bought off a collector for $3500. Never Played. I was offered $8500 for it. I have the gold plexiglass pick guards and headstock marker. Leaving original for now.

Oh God I’ve been to so many. Mostly during my high school and university years.
Stones 5 times. U2 4 times. Rush 3 times. ELP Black sabbath Supertramp. Eagles. Bowie. Peter Gabriel. Simple Minds. Hindreds more.
most memorable would be The Stones at MLP.
Saw U2 at Maple Leaf ballroom on St Clair ina very small venue. Then again at Massey Hall- that was probably the most memorable.
