Yes Bangla is closed to traffic, Soi Eric closes for one or two days, every other bar gets covered in plastic sheeting (speakers, tv, hifi, etc). Market stalls sell mulit-coloured pump up water pistols ( no pistols does not describe these are more like cannons).
Water and talcom powder are used to decorate passers by - water only for the policemen!
People drive around in pick up trucks with 45 gallon drums of water on the back to keep the people on the truck readily supplied.
A lot of expats go into hiding, as it has changed from a religious festival involving the sprinkling of water to full fledged farang water fight.
Its normally really hot at that time of year so its no big deal getting soaked - just dress to get wet.
Also it combines with phuket bike week so lots of bikers in town from all over se asia, big carnival atmosphere, seforum.xxxe at the end of bangla, etc.

Sometimes known as cooling powder its applied to stop sweating and cool the skin.. Kinda 'burns' cold at first (dont let a mischevious girlfriend apply it to your nuts.. Trust me on this) and after the kinda burning phase is passed it does leave a refreshing chilled feeling to the skin.. Bit of an aquired taste I reckon..

You must have seen old ladies or toddlers all with white powdr on thier faces and skin ?? Especially after showering ??

looks like they will not earn at all rather than earn low-season charge...

Got back yesterday.. spend most of my night at Playschool and RockHard.. not more than 5 people at one time at Playschool and for RockHard.. Don't go for the top who is certain to have ST or even LT every day. Make an agreement but still you will pay,at least the barfine. If you know before, tell them not to go working at RH when you stay there. They are payed every 14 days and have to work every night of those, so you have to barfine them, except if they made an agreement with the mamasan (at least a few weeks before) for a fortnight off. Lot of them like to have longtime friend, especially when bussiness is not good. Eat with them and so... I allways have a longtime GF from RH (last one allready more than one year). Problem is it is difficult to butterfly. They cling to you, and you are "burned" in the RH: no other lady will go with you for ST: you get a tattoo "property of". If they want to start something the first question will be "what about...(fill in the name of your ex)".
By the way, they pay 1 or 2 bath for every minute after 8 PM they start working ( they clock!), so calculate: they won't go eat with you or start working very late if they don't know they have a "customer" or at least the barfine is payed. Exceptions: the top who is sure to catch a ticket for the night.

Well... that's not good... I mean.. she's precious and all and we really had fun together (even offered me to stay at her house the next time I'm there..).. but still I like to butterfly... lots of other girls at RH seems to be quite nice too... this is a tough call to make.... anyway.. what do you mean by "the top"? does it mean the most famous? if it is.. how can I tell the different?

A few of them have quite some customers, let's say the most beautifull and sexy ones (check who is barfined first and/or often if you can't see it like that). Some of those then prefer the Japs (big money for ST). Normal gogo-girls in RH can't be so choosy. So if there is no chance of making "big money" (i.e. many potentiel clients) like now as it is calm, or even if there are many clients and they know they are not first choice, or if they like it a bit more sedate, they probably will stay with you. Some may even propose. But if you stay with one, don't go for another in RH. They will gladly drink with you, but sleeping is more difficult, or they must not like your GF and be sure she will not know. Butterflying in other bars is possible, but then, if she can't put claim on you for the night she may go with another man. I have one in RH and sometimes I take another one ST in the late afternoon, but not in my hotel. Many rooms available in Patong.
