Question Am I obsessed with "Freedom of Speech"?

So, people ask me why am I obsessed with Freedom of speech.

I have a question for you:

Don't you get enough directions on how to live your life throughout the day? from the moment you get up you are bombarded with messages on how you should live your life, how you should behave, what you can say, what is frowned upon etc.

This is modern day slavery imo, but governments are hiding behind "freedom of speech" and "freedom of choice" slogans just to get elected and continue to rule over you, slowly stripping you of the last ounce of choice you may still have, and you are trading that for false promise of "security", "stability" and "bright future"

They control you with jobs, mortgages, car loans to keep you in line, prohibit you from thinking free, I am not even mentioning speaking out freely.

It actually is argued constantly in law where the right to freedom of speech starts to encroach into violating the rights of others which is where the law draws the line. My personal opinion is freedom itself comes with a certain level of responsibility. Without it, everyone's free will would turn society into chaos

Obviously lots of trolls and liars out there that diminish the credibility of the reviews, but it’s better for members to adopt a stance of “buyer beware” than for the forum itself to censor the content of reviews. Censored forum bullshit is why so many jokers here get all surprised about bbfs existing like fucking rookies to the scene.

And the courts are leaning toward individual rights as opposed to freedom of speech.

It has always been there, racism is a restriction, as is with all the others. With the internet, a whole new set of issues have come up and laws are being put in place to signal that an individual privacy trumps freedom of speech if the speech has a negative slant to it. The bar is set almost to ground level for someone to bring an action, the onus is on the defendant to prove what they did was not offensive.

Only weak minded, selfish people want to control what others say and are against speech they disagree with. Free, open forums are the best way to go. Left wingers hate free speech because it shows their ideas to be terrible. The Chinese govt hates free, open forums. So does the Saudi govt. Think about that for a moment.

Besides, if you started monitoring speech, you would have to delete Krayjee's 40 handles. You probably dont have the time to do such a thing.

Its a double edge sword. If this place was more strict then it would never get popular. Look at how slow the massage section is on the red board, I go there once a day and there are barely any posts. But... This freedom also allows idiots to come and post stuff thats got nothing to do with toronto massage... I wish we didn't have that, there are PLENTY of places online for them to post (reddit, twitter, 4chan).

I added most of them to the ignore list and it works for me, but it would be better if we had a rule where anything not massage related gets moved to a different section. This way they can still have their freedom to post stupid shit, but not clutter the otherwise useful toronto massage section.

I'm all for freedom of speech until it harms other people. People who bully and intimidate can always claim freedom of speech. But, words can hurt as well as help and there must be a line drawn somewhere. You run a pretty unmoderated site and many have benefited from this. But, many have also taken advantage of it by posting inflammatory, racist, sexist and extremely hateful things. Heck, you even let trolls get away with posting personal face pics of industry workers. I don't understand the law much, but I'm pretty sure that can make you liable in lawsuits if something were to happen down the road.

I understand some of what you're doing. You once claimed that running this site is more of a hobby for you and it's an experiment if sorts. I get it as I've managed to infer a lot about psychology and its impacts myself. But, you also run an adult oriented site, and there must be standards and some form of rules and moderation. You cannot allow people's personal lives to be affected. If you do nothing, then you're just as guilty as the people posting personal pictures.

I know it's hard to draw the line between freedom of speech and hateful posts. I've been a moderator on an adult site before and I'm a moderator on a non adult site. It's a tough job that is purely voluntary but I do it because I believe that freedom of speech only goes so far. At the end of the day, you have to remember that it's your site and it's not a democracy. But you gotta have some rules in place.

I believe in freedom of speech 100% but I'm not sure if posting people's pictures and personal info falls under freedom of speech. There is a difference between freedom of speech, and stopping posts that harm the community and sex workers.

The problem is always determining what constitutes "harm", because that is subjective.

For instance, most people would agree, I think, that posting an SP's personal address and phone number online constitutes harm.
Less people would agree that posting pictures of her online constitutes harm.
But, some people may also believe posting a negative review constitutes harm.

Another example, most people would agree that not hiring someone based on their gender constitutes harm.
But does refusing to call them by their chosen gender constitute harm?
Remember that gender has become more a social construct than a biological fact, which is something many people disagree with. Should they be forced into it anyway on the basis that refusing constitutes harm?

Fuck ! Leviashit posted my pictures in here a few times and I became a star in no time. Lots of guys came over to introduce themselves to me and asking my autographs and phone number almost every week . Some girls even got my picture from there and passed around to other spas and lots of them asking for help to a point I was feeling like a super star those few months. I am a single guy and my kids know where I work and they even came over to visit me sometimes. I am a kind of guy who dont give a fuck about anything and don't care about anyone, so it was no biggie for me. That could be a home breaker for some for sure.
