Rarely happens to me since the places I frequent don’t typically have one or they’re not present when I walk out.

The one time I did walk by them (at Blue Nile), they didn’t ask how things went, they just thanked me for coming.

I agree with the comment about it depends who the receptionist is, if it’s the owner I could have a different answer than a “receptionist”. Would you complain about the price of peanut butter, or reveal that you ran into your neighbour who you hate to a Wal-Mart greeter on your way out?
