what is everyone doing marketing wise for Mother's Day?
I am thinking of running an ad in the paper for my instant gift certificates. I generally stay away from newspaper advertising, as I've not had much luck in the past... but I didn't have instant gift certificates at the time either. And being the only therapist in my town offering them, I was thinking it might be worth a shot for a newspaper ad this year.

also any wording for the ad for GC that has worked well for others... I am not planning on offering a discount. Just want to get the word out about the instant GC being available. I am offering some "mother's day package" services.

Thoughts? Ideas? would love to hear what others are doing.

oh sorry! I sell instant gift certificates from Spaboom on my website. I was thinking of an ad to direct people to my website to purchase them.

ooh, I like that idea - thanks! that would also cut down on people just "showing up" at my office to purchase them. (I'm a 1 woman show, so that gets tricky when I have walk in gc people).

I did this quite successfully. I offered a discount and sold a ton of certificates through SpaBoom this past Valentine's Day. Might I suggest a special package for mom's day and it is ONLY available on your website?

I've sold 15 Mother's Day gift certificates online already this week (it's in 10 days in Australia), no discounts. I really can't understand why you need discounts to attract buyers of gift certificates, particularly online buyers, they want the ease of buying online quickly rather than looking for discounts. I think people shop online looking for discounts on items, but not so much for services, and I think people are expecting discounts on goods less now than they did in the past, they understand the convinience of shopping online, though they look for ways to minimise shipping costs.

I don't necessarily disagree that spa packages need not be discounted, and in fact feel that discounting packages is usually unnecessarily. Rather, I agree that there are benefits from making available online-only packages as GrateLakes has experienced and, as stonegirl suggests, in relieving staff of the need to do the fulfillment.

1. Mentioned Mother's Day gift certs prominently in my May e-newsletter (I use constant contact).

2. I have a listing on Spa Boom's Spa Emergency site and I have highlighted certain services there as M-Day gift ideas.

3. I have Spa Boom GC's available via my website.

I am not an MT yet but my mom is getting a basket of stuff from me to help her feel better and stuff. I am giving her some bath salts, a few candles and a few other things. I am setting the basket up later this weekend.

I didnt sell that many GC this year, but then I didnt really advertise, either. I was booked today, though. Overbooked is more like it. I saw cleitns before office hours, and was still massaging an hour after I closed. Nine total, methinks I need a massage, too! Every year I tell myself I will put an ad in the paper, but I always forget. Hope everyone did well with their GC sales!!!

I sold one GC for Mother's Day, but didn't do any kind of advertising or promote it.

It was another one of my GC's from Christmas time. I still haven't gotten some generic ones. It was for teh mother of a regular client, and the mom is also a semi-regular.

I sold one. my first Spa Boom. I am pretty happy. I have only had been open two months and only had the site a month so slow and steady I guess.
