Yeah man Tj...I'm glad I came on this site to read up on the latest and greates news about Tj. I'm actually gonna be heading down there on thursday too. I havn't been down there in a couple of months. I feel that it is time to go back. I used to go down there a lot a couple years back, mostly on Friday/Saturday nights. I'll be down to San Diego for the first part of the day, but will be looking forward to TJ in the afternoon. Not sure if some of my buddies in SD will eforum.xxxg along. In anycase, I Can't wait!

My buddy and I are planning to head down there from LA, park at San Diego and just walk across. Go hang around the Zona area, check out Hong Kong bar and AD. I heard theres shooting around the border area this morning. I am just wondering how serious is the shooting. Do you think is a good idea to go or wait little about a week or so. Thanks for your advice in advance. If anyone wants to carpool or meet up and grab a beer let me know.

I've been going regularly and I think it is as safe as ever for gringos. If anything it is a little better as the cops seem to be cutting back on the shakedowns. Supposedly the new local government is cleaning house and a lot of cops have been fired/arrested. I haven't had a problem this year, let's hope it continues.

As far as the violence, it seems to be between the cops and the gangs, no more dangerous than before for tourists. I personally don't worry about it.

Goteforum.xxxetem, you are one worrying monger, you have been reading too many fear posts ! Now is actually a good time to go there. I saw a lot of chicas, but fewer Gringos, lots of locals are trying to fill in for the Gringos ! Just hit 405 South to 805/5 south and you will be in paradise !

Much of the answer to this question depends upon your behavior. Do you plan to stay within the confines of the tourist areas or la Zona and behave as a respectful guest? Or do you get sloppy, fall-down drunk and resemble the "Ugly American" who feels compelled to boss Mexicanos around since he is so much better than they are? The answers to these questions will shape the answer to your question. No matter where you go on this planet, you could always simply be in the wrong place at the wrong time. But if you keep your wits about you, act respectful, and stay fairly sober, you should do fine. Did you plan to cruise la Zona or were you thinking of hooking up with an escort? I have not been to TJ in about a year, but I have been reading alot about others having bad experiences, Sampson being arrested, I even read in the times about the violence going on there right now. So, my question for anyone who has been there recently is, is it safe to go right now? I was planning on possibly going down one day this week (as it is only 2 1/2 hours away) and am starting to think maybe I should wait. can anyone shed any light on my concerns?
